The Absolute Best Spots to Catch an Arizona Sunset

Cattle dog watching sunset in Monument Valley

Arizona sunsets cannot be over-hyped. The desert’s drier air means more vivid color wavelengths are able to shine through, which is why we get the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever see. Although every Arizonan has admired a sunset from their car on the way home from work, there are some pretty incredible spots that will make the experience even better.

Papago Park – Smack dab in the middle of Tempe and Phoenix, this is a super easy trail that’s great for the whole family. Getting to the epic “Hole in the Rock” formation is only a .3 mile hike!

Superstition Mountains – The dramatic volcanic peaks of this Phoenix mountain range make for quite the photo backdrop. Don’t be surprised to see people posing for engagements or weddings during sunset hours, it’s no secret how gorgeous this spot is!

Sunset Point rest stop with view of mountains

Sunset Point – We had to give this one a mention–it’s in the name! This rest stop is about an hour drive if you are in the Phoenix area, but it’s definitely worth it. It has completely unobstructed views of the mountains and is absolutely beautiful when the sun goes down.
